What exactly is Dual & Single Stream Recycling

Giordano Companies waste collection and recycling services

Dual stream recycling and single stream recycling are both recyclable materials collection systems, but with one important difference.

In dual stream programs, bottles, cans and other containers are collected separately in one recycling bin, while paper grades are collected separately in another recycling bin.

In single stream programs, bottles, cans, and other containers, as well as paper grades are all collected together in one recycling bucket.

While dual stream recycling is popular, we here at Giordano only support single stream recycling. Why you ask?

The biggest benefit to single-stream recycling is customer convenience as it means less work up front. More participation also leads to more materials being processed, ultimately providing recyclers with more product at the end of the day. By doing so, the vast majority of recyclable materials escape the landfills, and that means a considerable cash savings for you and your local municipality.

For waste collection, we ask that you help the overall process by eliminating contaminants in the recycling process. Examples of contaminants in the recycling process include...

Plastic bags
Food & liquids
Vegetative waste (including wood & pallets)
Tanglers (hoses, wires, ropes, cords, etc.)
Construction debris (dirt, scrap metals, concrete, etc.)
Clothing & textiles
Propane tanks, tires & garbage totes
Chemicals (including paint)
Furniture & mattresses
Electronic waste (including batteries and bulbs)
Medical waste

We're proud to support our local communities and look forward to working with you to do the right thing. We believe deeply that a clean environment is not just for our benefit, but for the benefit of future generations. If you have any questions at all with regard to waste collection or recycling, please don't hesitate to contact us.
